FMyLife.com, Because Your Day Isn’t as Bad as Theirs

OK, the recession sucks, sure, but even worse is the depression you feel from hearing about it all the time. Those poor people losing their homes, once-strong industries swirling around in the economic toilet, the nagging fear that the grim reaper will finally say it’s your turn to see the people in human resources. Good thing there’s FMyLife.com to cheer us up. On the site, people share (and vote on) short horror stories like this one: Today, I got up at 5am, brushed my teeth, shaved and showered to get ready for work only to step barefoot in a huge pile of dog crap in the middle of my living room floor. I don’t own a dog. FML

Although the site’s owners say they screen out fake entries, some of the posts are so funny, so ridden with tongue-in-cheek self-pity, that they’re almost certainly fabricated. Who cares? Like its other kin (see: Sad Guys on Trading Floors), this endless stream of schadenfreude is a welcome respite from the much less-hilarious stream of bad economic news. Your day just got forty-three percent better.
